When my friend Madeline brought over a huge bag of apples, I decided to spend my weekend turning them into delicious things. Thanks to my Facebook friends for genius suggestions including, “Make apple slaw”, “Learn to juggle”, and “Poison them and hand them to unsuspecting princesses”. I didn’t use any of those brilliant ideas, but here’s what I did instead: Roasted Butternut Squash Apple Soup with Challah Croutons

Apple and Cheddar Quick Bread

Apple Turnovers

Pan Seared Chicken with Apple and Sage

WTF Fridays

In a new weekly feature I like to call WTF Fridays, here’s a product that should have never been made: image

Chuck E Cheese is great for terrifying animatronic rats, impossibly expensive 2500-ticket Justin Bieber dolls, and tiny rides for small children (and apparently not adults because they yell at you if you try to ride them. Rude.).

I don’t think anyone has ever left a Chuck E Cheese and thought, “Man that pizza was top notch! I wish I could recreate it at home!”

Know your strengths, Charles. Food isn’t one of them.

So, this happened yesterday.

Thanks to this Hoobastank GIF for expressing how I feel.

Lunch today at Big Fish Entertainment - catering from Miss Lily’s Jamaican Food. Clockwise from top: jerk chicken, curried vegetables, oxtail stew, rice and peas, beef patty, festivales corn fritter, jerk coconut corn. So so so so so so good. There isn’t even cheese in this meal and I still love it.
